![]() The midrange will retain the lush character but sound a bit more "natural" for lack of a better term, and in better balance with the lows/highs. If you like the sound of the original B6, the debut series (in my room) has just as much bass output, but with slightly more texture. ![]() They are really like a mashup of the first two iterations, with an extra dash of refinement/smoothness. ![]() I lived with them for awhile but last year bought some used DBR62's on ebay for $450, and immediately fell in love with the sound. ![]() They really "audiophiled" it in a way that disagreed with my personal tastes. Way less bass, a more forward, almost shouty mid-range and highs that border on harsh, neutral, clinical etc. Unfortunately I found it's a completely different speaker with a much different tonality and freq. A few years later I bought a pair of the 6.2's hoping it would be an improvement on the originals as many of the reviews claimed. Was always a big fan of the sound - solid bass and a smooth presentation. I've heard the original B6's pretty extensively, as my father bought a pair when they first came out. Here's my experience with the Elac Debut lineup: I didn't have the energy/time to DIY another set of OS and I also wanted to try something else out for my second near field listening location.I would say the upgrade is worth it. A guy on Amazon raved about the RB42s and he was coming from Overnight Sensations. So they're going back to Amazon and I'm getting a $150 set of Micca RB42s shipped. I thought I could just ignore the size but I just can't get over how big they are. They have the stage and clarity of the OS and can get very loud but holy crap they are YUGE! Total deal breaker for me. Man, I really should have watched CheapAudioMan's full review and he basically sums up my thoughts, the Elac's aren't suited for near fields. Well the DB62 had nothing but glowing reviews and I was able to snag an Amazon Warehouse pair for $275+ tax (list is $400). I always wondered what could beat the Overnight Sensations. I'm a bass head though so I built a Dayton 10" HF sub to go along with them, demo/review here.įast forward and I now want a speaker setup at my remote office because being inside your head all day makes you go crazy. They are lovely for near field desk jamming. So I built some Overnight Sensations a few years back, initial review here.
